I'm a day late for a year in review as 2014 has officially come and gone.
After taking a look back I'm surprised how much we accomplished.
Let's take a little walk down memory lane...
We made a lot of progress to the basement in 2014.
The best completion was finishing a family room in the basement.
We also finished a basement bathroom to service the family room and guest bedroom (makeover coming in 2015):
The laundry dungeon was turned it in to a bright space that makes me enjoy doing

Herringbone Sharpie Wall.
Continuing on with details on our master bedroom makeover...today we're talking the Herringbone wall feature.
Dressing up your walls with color and pattern is nothing new.
Normally you'll see trim at the head of the bed on the wall. I switched it up and did the trim on every wall BUT the main wall which left me with a blank canvas wall to go nuts with. Whatever I chose I wanted to make sure that it wasn't going to compete with the amount of pattern on the other walls but also not feel like a
Ch-Ch-Ch Changes!
Happy Friday Folks!
For being a short week this past week sure went by slow.
If you follow me on Instagram you've noticed that we've been up to quite a few projects around here.
Let me get you up to speed...
First up the master bedroom. It's almost done.
If you remember I fell in love with a wallpaper very similar to this but at $600. to do just one wall I knew that option was out. So instead I had a custom stencil made. You guys know I know how to stencil...I've used several of them
Choosing a rug pad.
Thank you to Rug Pads USA for partnering with me and sponsoring this post.
A rug without a rug pad is like a skater on ice without ice skates.
That may be a little too poetic and heavy for a Friday morning.
What I mean is you can't have a rug without a good quality pad...the rug just slips all around...it just doesn't work...believe me I tried...and I slipped...and fell on my arsh.
I found this rug at Joss and Main and I love it but it is so slippery on our wood floor without a rug
Reviewing my own house – wood floors.
Today I'm continuing on with our series of reviewing my own kitchen.
Last week I reviewed my counter tops and cabinets.
Today we're talking wood floors in the kitchen and dining.
Our living room, dining and kitchen are all in one big great room. There's no separation of any designated space. To keep things seamless we ran hardwood flooring throughout the entire great room. We went with oak and had it stained Jacobean (you can read more about the installation and staining process here).

I’ve been keeping a secret.
I've been keeping a secret.
OK, so I may have mentioned that we were finishing our basement but as far as I'm concerned, unless you have the pictures, it's just hearsay
(as far as me and home projects that is...sometimes I dream out loud).
The biggest reason I haven't been showing you all the details of our basement project is mainly because construction pictures are a snooze.
Unless you know what you're looking for it's just a dusty, messy space.
