Monday, Memorial Day, I spent the entire day taping, masking off and plasticizing (word?) our kitchen and two bathrooms in preparation for refinishing and painting our cabinets.
I will compare it to labor.
It was painful.
Hours and hours of work with no end in sight.
Tape falls off, kids put their hand through things... it was one of the most tedious and annoying tasks I've done.
Then the cabinet master came...enter Ryan Reader.
He worked his magic with some seriously toxic lacquer

Re-finishing and painting our cabinets.
A few weeks ago I did an honest of review of our kitchen and master bathroom 3 years later (Part 1, 2, 3, 4).
I was overwhelmed by the discussion and comments that the posts generated.
Overwhelmed, but not surprised.
A lot of thought, money, time and energy goes in to a kitchen and bathroom. When elements work it's great, when they don't it's a huge pi$$ off.
One of my biggest disappointments has been our custom cabinets.
The panels on the ends are separating, the white paint is flaking off
Projects happening around our house and a $5500. giveaway!
That's no typo!
You read that right...$5500 giveaway!
But first, I'm going to tease you with some house projects we've been working on.
2 1/2 years ago we remodeled this house. Even though it turned out to feel like a completely new house there were a lot of things left undone, unpainted, undecorated and unattended to. We were exhausted and done. Who cares that the baseboards were uncaulked and unpainted? The budget was blown and our inner remodeliva's were tired.

I'm so excited to introduce our newest contributor, Jackie, from Teal and Lime! What I adore about Jackie is that she has vision. She can look at something vanilla and turn it in to something fabulous. She will be bringing you some really creative projects here on 4men1lady but she also has her own blog that you'll definitely want to check out as well. Take it away Jackie!...
I am a big believer that you don't have to spend big bucks to achieve a high-end look in your home. I have been
How to spray paint successfully.
I use spray paint.
A lot.
It's perfect for smaller pieces that may have a lot of nooks and crannies which aren't suitable for a paint brush or roller. Plus the finish is smooth and durable.
Many spray paints can even be used on plastic, wood and metal.
Here are a few of my past spray painting projects...

Insane, I know, but I brought home some more chairs from another school auction.
45 to be exact.
I had such a mad rush for my last chairs
To paint or not to paint…
As you may know, this bathroom is getting a facelift.Problem is this cherry cabinet. It's just getting in the way of a cohesive look.
I would LOVE to paint the cabinet a black lacquer just like these bookcase and shelves featured on Little Green Notebook today.
So here's the problem. We paid a pretty penny to upgrade these cabinets when we bought the home 2 years ago. I never really liked them to begin with but the alternative option choices were...let's just say...unacceptable.
