This blog was started by my husband to keep our family and friends informed about the events of our lives. He had to explain to me what a blog was because I didn't have a clue. He got lazy so I took over and re-named it 4 Men 1 Lady.
I'm a wife, mother of three beautiful boys and lucky enough to be able to work from home part time. I am passionate about interiors and use my home to experiment with design.

Hi! I love your stuff, but I'm wondering, when you re-paint furniture, like your yellow dresser, do you use regular paint? Are there streaks? I need to re-paint a nightstand and bookcase and I'm wondering what kind of paint to use!
Thanks so much, your projects are amazing! I'm doing the Ikea mirrors this weekend!

HI Michelle,
Oil based paints are definetely more tough and durable but super stinky and more toxic. I use regular old laytex paint. I normally just prime and paint. However, to ensure better wear and adhersion, sand the surface first then prime and paint. You can even apply a poly-eurathane afterwards...just make sure the two are compatible and the person at the paint store can help you with that.
I also use a paint sprayer that attaches to my air compressor. It gives it a much better finish with no streaking. If you don't have one use a roller as much as possible to avoid streaking.
Happy painting! Please share pictures of your projects...I'd love to see them.
Thanks!
Hi there! I recently stumbled across your blog and have been totally obsessed with it since! I love what you do. It's what I love to do as well, it just seems like you have much better follow thru than I do!!! It's very inspiring! The only trouble is now I've gone completely through your whole blog over and over and now I have to wait for more! : ) So sad. Keep up the good work!
Hey there!
A couple days ago I came across your blog and really got inspired! I can relate because I'm about to become a mom for the second time to another boy, and I too LOVE interior design. I just started my own blog, but theres much to be worked on!
Take Care and keep those posts coming!!!
Thank you from Canada!
I think "Three Men and a Lady" needs to turn to "Four Men and a Lady" ;]
Congrats!!
You amuse, inspire and froster creativity!
Hi girl, Love your blog.. where is your kitchen? I love stalking your blog...
Nancy
Just got put onto your site after the Joss & Main event... LOVE your look. I have two kids and try to keep things bright and fresh in the house but I still struggle... My latest life-changing debate is whether I can realistically purchase a white couch for my primary living room when I have a 3 year and a 1 year old... I noticed you had them with white slip covers... Does that work for you? How often do you have to wash them? We have really lame dark brown leather sofas now which I desperately want rid of but I can't deny how practical they are... Let me know your thoughts! Also about your input on wooden flooring PLS! Thanks - Daina
Hi Diana,
My sofas are actually white (under the white slipcovers). They got so dirty even when I didn't have kids which is why I had them slipcovered. I wash them probably once a month but I'm pretty particular about not eating on the sofa, no shoes in the house, wash your hands after eating, etc. White definitely keeps you honesty. I'm not gonna lie, they are a bit more high maintenance then normal. With our recent move we have a lot more neighbor kids in and out of the house and keeping things clean is much more work. Still love my white but if I had to do it over again I'd do a brown classic leather or gray velvet.
